you can has updates!
Okay. So people at school have this things where they update their blogs at least semi regularly. So I’m going to try that for a while.
Alright.
So Unitec stuff. Well I had my groups video dance shoot last month. Video Dance was pretty much as the name sounds - its kinda like a music video, but it’s more of a dance. It lets us work together with the dancers at unitec (after all, it’s a school of performing and screen arts) to create a dance video of sorts. We had a neat location to work with, and got some real powerful imagery out of it. Unfortunately, due to not having my own camera, I didn’t really get any set photos or location photos. Something which I may remedy by buying myself a nice camera sometime soon.
Anyway. that went well
And then last week I helped out as a lighting assistant on a short film called ‘Last Chance Cigarette’. The crew was mostly people I knew from Unitec, except for the producers/directors. But they were cool people anyway. Not as cool as the guy who sat on a glass table and broke it, mind you, but still cool.
We shot in this apartment in town 5 stories up. It was a nice place, but it was a bitch to get the gear up there. Especially the dolly tracks, which are sorta like 10-13ft long train tracks, but you put a little card thing on them so the camera can move smoothly horizontally. They wouldn’t fit in the elevator, so Freddie and I took them up the stairs vertically. So someone would lift them up, then someone on the level above would grab them, and someone above would grab it when it was moved up. It was kinda hilarious and a tad dangerous had it slipped. But it didn’t and so we now laugh on it.
There was a camera going around so I’ll try and nab some photos off of it if they ever come online. Cause it was a fun three day shoot. 3 11 hour days in a row kicked my ass a bit, but I learned a lot.
hai2u. i missed writing this stuff.
